Ischial seating and amrest in the metro
TMB is continuously looking for ways of improving stations, by adding value for users, and making them more sustainable, inclusive, efficient and accessible.
The project for ischial seats and armrests at metro stations involves the reuse of recyclable materials from buses for the manufacture and installation of this type of seating, with the aim of improving accessibility and comfort for customers.
In order to make ischial seats, bars and sheet metal from the inside of 3.300 and 3.400 series buses that are no longer in use have been reused.
The armrests have emerged from a co-creation process between TMB and the Elisava University School of Design and Engineering. For its manufacture, bars from tourist buses have been reused.
