Special projects and electric mobility
Call for proposals for the programme of subsidies for exceptional electric mobility project (MOVES Programme - Special Projects II).
Smart charging
Introduction of smart charging management features (smart charging) on the existing electric recharging infrastructure at TMB’s three depots. The management system will include software for TMB's electric vehicle charging infrastructure with the following features:
It will be able to manage the following number of charge points:
- 67 charge points at Triangle
- 21 charge points in Zona Franca
- 28 charge points in Horta
- 9 charge points in the street
This will cover the following smart charging management features:
- Efficient charging of vehicles to avoid peak in power demand. With good management, a 79% reduction in peak power levels can be achieved.
- Optimisation of the power available in the depot so that the use of that power is maximised and savings are achieved in terms of power purchased. Makes it possible for the bus not to be charged to the maximum, but to a lower level.
- Management of recharging during off-peak hours; 75% of charging during this period could lead to a 22% saving in electricity consumption.
- Automatic management of the charging of electric vehicles, prioritising those that need to come into service earlier.
- Supervision of the electrical distribution and transformation infrastructure and of electric recharging both at depots and on the street.
The initiative is part of the strategy for the electrification of the Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona bus service. The smart charging management project will involve:
- Improving energy efficiency.
- Improving the efficiency and operational availability of electric buses.
MetroCHARGE
The MetroCHARGE project consists of the implementation of an ultra-fast charger network that is energy self-sufficient thanks to the supply of energy recovered through the metro's regenerative braking system, solar photovoltaic power generation and energy accumulation. The supply will come from the metro catenary line, for which only energy recovered from braking processes will be used, along with that generated by the solar photovoltaic panels that will be installed on all available roofs.
The project will include:
- Fifteen 100 kW ultra-fast chargers and ten 7.2 kW semi-fast chargers.
- Eight ultra-fast 150 kW chargers with energy accumulators.
- Five solar photovoltaic plants located in Boixeres, Sagrera, Santa Eulàlia, Vilapicina and Miramar.
- Seven brake energy recuperators on metro lines L1, L2 and L4 and 6 brake energy recuperators on metro lines L3 and L5.
